Jiangxi Provincial Museum At the beginning of
the foundation of our new People's Republic of China, the government and
the party committee of Jiangxi province pay much attention to the museum
business and decided to set up Jiangxi Provincial Museum on the base of
the former Jiangxi Provincial Science Museum. The museum preparatory
department was founded in March of 1953, the museum display building began
to construct to the south of the August First Square in July of 1957 and
the Museum was formally open to the public in July first of 1961. In 1978,
Jiangxi Revolution History Museum was renamed as Jiangxi Revolutionary
Museum, and Jiangxi Provincial Museum was renamed as Jiangxi Historical
Museum, and then the two museums were merged into one and named as Jiangxi
Provincial Museum In 1981. After 50 years hard trying, the Museum has
become a large comprehensive museum in the world. On October 1 in 1999,
the biggest invest of cultural infrastructure since the foundation of our
country---Jiangxi Provincial Museum has been completed and open to the
public formally, which symbolizes that the museum stepping into the new
century with her brand-new posture.
The new Jiangxi Provincial Museum situates on a new sand bar that is
rounded by the Gan River and Fu River, it lies east to Fu River, south to
Zhongshan Bridge, west to Gan River and north to Tengwang Pavilion, which
is the one of the three famous buildings to the south of the Yangze River.
The new museum covers 399.996 are,its constructing area is 35 thousand
square metres and the exhibition hall area is 13 thousand square metres.
This big comprehensive museum consists of three parts of historic museum,
revolutionary museum and natural museum, what is first seen in the
country.
The principal part of the building is referred to modeling of white
glazed porcelain with three tubes of Ming Dynasty made in Jingdezhen, the
ancient ceramics art and modern construction style is skillfully melt in
the building and the three parts as historical museum, revolutionary
museum and natural museum are united as one whole, which looks solemn,
elegant and unique. A big bronze sculpture of "time and space" aloft in
the centre square which have four component part: three imitated bronze
overhead handles, imitated bronze Yan with stand deer design and four
legs, bronze tiger with two tails and a reclining bird on its back and
torch. It means that the brilliant civilization goes back to ancient
times, the rich natural resources and galaxy of talent, a single spark can
start a prairie fire.
